Founded in 1993, Barr Gazetas is an award-winning Studio based in London’s West End. The Barr Gazetas team is an impressive mix of over 50 Architects, Interior Designers, Master Planners & Creative Support.

Our award-winning projects span a broad range of sectors including workplace, fit-out, residential, public realm and mixed-use.

To support our team with their wellbeing and personal commitments, we offer flexible start and finish times, working from home one day per week, and five days per year working from anywhere.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 6+ years post Part III qualification. 
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of all RIBA stages. 
  • Act as principal point of contact level for Client, Contractor, Project Managers, Consultants, Local Authority, and other external agencies 
  • Excellent knowledge of current legislation, standards, building technologies, environmental design and construction methods. 
  • Contract administration knowledge and application at a high level where applicable 
  • High level of self-motivation and initiative 
  • Lead, manage, delegate and motivate the design team 
  • Be aware of programming and resourcing to achieve all deadlines;  proactively identify and resolve prior to notifying clients / contractors 
  • Expert knowledge of CAD and BIM practices and software application tools 
  • Implement and maintain best in class QMS across the studio, Project Checklist at all stages and utilise the Climate Change Guidance and Heritage Checklists 

Skills & Attributes: 

  • Strong client management skills. 
  • Ability to work on own initiative.  
  • Good understanding of contract administration knowledge and application.  
  • Good level of awareness of Risk Management to mitigate all risks.  
  • Excellent presentation, design and technical skills.  

IT & Software:

  • Excellent knowledge of Revit software is a must. 
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.  
  • Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD software and the Practice CAD Manual. 
  • Good knowledge of graphic presentations (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator etc). 

Design & Project:

  • Lead the design team inhouse and brief/ monitor the external consultants and contractor teams 
  • Design for robustness and BG technical excellence; facilitate constant improvement 
  • Prepare design proposals for pitches, concepts and development 
  • Develop the design through all RIBA design stages using the BG best practice checklists 
  • High standard of design direction applied through all project design development stages 
  • Presentation skills for communication and design quality 
  • Utilise creative and innovative solutions that lead to sustainable projects and good decision making 
  • Be responsible for ensuring project is designed sustainably by consultants at all RIBA design stages 
  • Develop project plans, define the project with clear timescales, scope, costs and resource requirements for delivery on time and within budget. 
  • Prepare and manage the information production schedule for the projects. 
  • Set agendas and run regular internal and external design team meetings. 
  • Monitor construction work on site and ensure smooth hand over of project to client.  

General Office: 

  • Reporting to the Management team on all aspects of projects 
  • Representing the views of our architects and assistants, providing ideas and insight into improvements for the practices 
  • Monday Morning Meeting and Office Quarterly Meetings contribution at all levels 
  • Mentor architects and assistants within the practice 
  • Presenting to our clients, consultants and peers; professionally, succinctly and well 
  • Follow company policies and procedures and discharge your professional duties according to the RIBA and ARB Professional Code of Conduct and the Practice’s vision, values and strategy. 
  • Represent the Practice and positively enhance its reputation. 
  • Create and maintain a positive working environment for all staff. 
  • Be an ambassador at all times and an expert in our core work.  
  • Attend internal and external meetings, presentations and committee meetings. 
  • Represent the Practice at all levels, especially client liaison.
