About Riverscape

Riverscape at 10 Queen Street Place is a refurbishment of a 1980s city office building. Barr Gazetas was tasked with upgrading the external entrance, reception and atrium as well as integrating these with a new ground floor F&B unit. The scheme also involved provision of a new winter garden event space on the roof of the building. Works were undertaken with tenants in occupation.

The existing space was arranged around 3 distinct and fragmented areas: the entrance, front reception and rear atrium. There was limited visibility between the spaces and the atrium felt dark despite the large volumes. The refurbishment focuses on providing an enhanced arrival experience, presence and image for the building. With high quality finishes, new lighting and signage Barr Gazetas has created modern, welcoming spaces that have a common design language with specific zones and functions.

The main reception operates in conjunction with a café, providing seating for visitors and informal meeting space for occupants. The wall between the two spaces folds open to remove any physical barrier. The two areas engage with one another and the spaces work together as part of an overall offering, creating a buzz and welcoming environment for tenants and guests.

The single height spaces are comfortable and soft with domestic scale materials. The double height space is more dramatic with new lighting suspended in the additional space.

The rear atrium introduces nature to the space with planting inspired by a woodland garden. The planters double as seating, including ‘bleacher’ seats on the level change. An illuminated soffit introduced to the underside of the bridge link brightens the area outside the lifts.
