This is a special month for Barr Gazetas as we celebrate our 30th anniversary. We loved bringing friends and colleagues together at Café Royal to mark the moment, and party…! 

Reflecting on the journey that has brought us to this milestone, I'm hugely grateful and excited about the exceptional projects and people that have defined our success. Since Alistair Barr and Tom Gazetas took the plunge back in 1993, collaboration and innovation have been constant in our story. We have delivered projects across London, America, Greece, and China, including the first-Grade II listed building and commercial refurbishment to achieve BREEAM Outstanding certification, the first flexible workspace to achieve WELL platinum, our first LETI Pioneer project and The Royal Academy's 250th Anniversary refurbishment alongside David Chipperfield Architects. 

You probably wonder, "How on earth have they done all that, alongside all of the award-winning retrofit workplace designs…?” 

Our success is not just the awesome projects we deliver; is also rooted in the relationships we have built along the way. Thank you to our clients and collaborators who have trusted us with their visions and allowed us to bring them to life. Your faith in our abilities and the collaborative spirit you bring to the table have been instrumental in our growth and achievements... and so has the extraordinary BG team, one with amazing talents. From Architects to Interior designers, BIM experts, university lecturers, award judges, Passivhaus designers, BREEAM Assessors, BCO board directors and guest writers, their dedication, creativity, and commitment are the driving force behind our continued success. 

The past few years have seen some big changes at our practice, with our succession process being one of them. Following Tom and Jonathan joining as Directors and co-owners in 2016 and Alistair leaving two years ago, we have embarked on the next chapter of our journey, becoming an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT). This transition will ensure that the practice remains independent and continues delivering outstanding design solutions while fostering a culture of collaboration and shared ownership. 

We've also grown through two recessions, a global pandemic and have established ourselves at #63 on the AJ100. We have moved studios, launched our new brand, and continued to push ourselves to deliver even better, more sustainable projects. We are delighted to share that we have recently signed up to become a B-Corp certified organisation, aiming to contribute positively to the communities we serve and the planet we inhabit, making a lasting impact beyond our projects and further cementing our commitment to sustainability, social responsibility, and ethical business practices.
