Our Net Zero Carbon journey
Date: February 23
Author: Barr Gazetas
We have achieved a big step towards becoming a Net Zero.
We have been working on reducing our carbon footprint for many years, more recently focussing on our journey towards becoming a Net Zero practice. We have learnt what our baseline Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions are and we have offset 110%, bringing us a step closer to our shared goal.
By going a little bit further, the extra 10%, we have managed to not only neutralise our current emissions but be on the positive side of the line.
This is an important first step, and we now focus on reducing our emissions which remains our priority. Offsetting them attracts a fanfare of debate, but the reality is, whilst we work hard on reducing them, we know that by choosing carefully how we have offset them, we are contributing positively.
We are fully committed to a better planet and can’t wait to share our case study with you soon. We have set a near term target meaning:
We will reduce our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 46% before 2030 and will commit to measure and reduce all of our scope 3 emissions
We have also set a long term target as encouraged by SBTi:
We commit to reach Net Zero by 2050. As part of this, we commit to reduce absolute scope 1, 2 and 3 ghg emissions 90% by 2050 from 2022 as a base year.
