NLA Study Tour of Grainhouse

Date: January 25

We had the pleasure of hosting an NLA Study Tour at Grainhouse, providing 31 industry professionals an inside look at this heritage-led refurbishment in the heart of Covent Garden, one of London’s most iconic and vibrant neighbourhoods.

NLA Study Tours are members-only events that offer in-person, guided tours of significant architectural projects and urban development initiatives across London. Participants gain firsthand insights into these projects, often hearing directly from the teams involved in their design and execution.

Project associate, Magnus Wills, along with Damien Hilborne, Development Director at Hines, kicked off the tour with a concise yet insightful breakfast presentation. They shared the story behind this unique project, explaining the key elements that enabled the team to seamlessly integrate five historic buildings into one cohesive workspace designed for 21st-century occupiers.

Following the presentation, attendees toured the three Hines office floors, experiencing firsthand the transformation of this space into Hines' European headquarters. Tour highlights included the central spiral staircase, flexible and light-filled workspaces, and panoramic views from the terrace - though, we admit, these views might have been more enjoyable in warmer weather!

A big thank you to the NLA for collaborating with us to organise the event, and to Elliott Wood, the project’s structural engineers, for supporting the tour.
