We are incredibly proud to be B Corp Certified, achieving a score of 141.9 – the highest score ever recorded for a UK architectural practice.

This felt like a natural step for Barr Gazetas. Our three pillars – People, Practice and Projects – have been instrumental in making our studio a great place to work. We are a people-first organisation, whether that’s our own team, our clients, suppliers or other collaborators.

The 14-month B Corp certification process was incredibly rigorous. It covered five key areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, Customers; and with over 300 evidence-based questions there was nowhere to hide. It’s a transparent and thorough assessment, which delved deep into all areas of the business and it's processes. Achieving the score we did has been a powerful validation of our efforts.

Beyond the certification, what does becoming a B Corp really mean to us? We can stand tall knowing we are socially, environmentally, and financially accountable. This certification, and the ongoing process of retaining it, pushes us to balance profit with purpose, ensuring we consider all stakeholders - our people, clients, suppliers, the community, and the environment - as fundamental to maintaining our business sustainably into its fifth decade and beyond.
