My BE Career: Derin Fadina
Date: April 25
"I liked technical drawing at a very young age, so I somewhat arbitrarily decided to become an architect when I was about 12 years old and only came to understand the decision in retrospect."
BG architect, part-time writer, lecturer, and movie enthusiast, Derin Fadina, was recently featured in BE News for a Q&A as part of their "My BE Career" series. Since joining Barr Gazetas in 2021, Derin has completed his Part 3 qualification, becoming a fully qualified architect. In addition to his architectural practice, Derin is an accomplished writer, contributing to leading academic journals and publications, including The Architectural Review, Architects' Journal, and Frieze magazine.
Derin is on the 2025 NLA 'Conservation and Heritage' Expert Panel and is an Associate Lecturer in BA Architecture at UAL: Central Saint Martins. He's also a visiting critic at the University of Westminster.
As a rising voice in the built environment, Derin reflects on his journey into the industry, delves into key issues such as ESG and DE&I, and shares his thoughts on the changes he hopes to see in the future. Read the full interview here.
