Formerly renowned clothing manufacturer Courtaulds’ head office, we worked with the historic fabric of the building to create modern, flexible workspace in a heritage setting. The newly fitted CAT A+ office floors echo the vibrancy and colour palette of the original Courtaulds spaces. Rich hues, sophisticated textures, and carefully selected modern-classic furniture pieces, as well as carefully designed fixed joinery pieces breathe life into the interiors, reviving the dynamism and grandeur that once defined the building.
“A hugely rewarding aspect of our job is the opportunity to engage with London’s historic buildings. This project was particularly special, given its rich history and strong identity. Every design decision was meticulously detailed to ensure it was meaningful while respecting the building’s historic character, whilst also incorporating contemporary features to provide premium 21st Century workspace”.

Retrofitting heritage buildings presents unique challenges, particularly when balancing restoration with modern interventions. In this project, we aimed to celebrate the historic features and proportions both inside and out. Heritage-style windows have been replaced and the decorative metal panels restored, allowing us to reinstate the vertical proportions of the façade. The original sawtooth rooflights have been reinstated, flooding the space with natural light.
