‘Hidden Heddon’ was a three-day public event for the London Festival of Architecture 2017.

Inspired by the theme of memory, the history of Heddon Street was celebrated through installations, live music performances and an open studio. Visitors to the street were guided on a treasure trail to discover the street’s past and present.

Through the centuries, Heddon Street has played host to some of history’s more important cultural happenings, unforgettable events and pioneering people. ‘Hidden Heddon’ celebrated the legacy of Ziggy Stardust, the first ever cabaret club in 1920s London and a cinema which premiered the original Disney animation ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ in 1938.

Barr Gazetas also opened its doors to the public to explore some of their projects and their hidden memories, including a time capsule buried at Greenwich Market and a 13th century monastery doorway discovered at Carter Lane near St. Pauls. At the back of the studio on a ‘memory wall’, visitors shared memories of their favourite hidden places in London.
