The venues are distinct in character and proposed use. The Dream Dome will be constructed within the shell of a cement silo that measures 90m in diameter. Our design celebrates the dramatic industrial nature of the existing structure to create a 2,500 capacity, multi-purpose arena that will host pop-concerts, exhibitions and musical theatre.
Technical challenges include the retention and re-use of the fragile dome structure and the integration within the design of the original cement chute. The arena features a fully flexible retractable seating arrangement and a new independent hanging structure to satisfy the technical requirements of the uses whilst respecting the original structure.
The No.7 Music Hall is a state of the art venue for live music, dramatic theatre and sporting events. The finish to the spacious, multi-levelled, light filled foyer contrasts with the atmospheric theatre space which features a proscenium stage that is adaptable to cater for thrust stage requirements.
The theatre will seat almost 800 people at full capacity. The Black Box theatre sits alongside a new art gallery space and the two are connected by a central atrium. The 400 capacity flexible black box space will house experimental theatre, press conferences and product launches.
